Wedding Trends of 2020

wedding trends

As we head into the new year, we see the arrival of fresh new trends and changes with how couples choose to celebrate and showcase their love to the world. Faure Valletta Photography has spent years shooting for many different wedding’s and have noticed a couple of recurring themes when we photograph weddings across Sydney.
Eco-Friendly Decorations

In this decade, more individuals are turning to eco-friendly alternatives, including for their wedding ceremonies. From using only locally sourced products to paperless save-the-dates and ensuring zero waste catering — future bride/groom’s to be are putting in more effort into environmental care.

Non-traditional dresses, suits & wedding parties

Australia has finally allowed all couples, regardless of gender or orientation, the ability to tie the knot and visibility represent partnership and commitment. And with it comes more individuals taking liberties with traditional notions of marriage ceremonies and turning it into something that uniquely expresses themselves.

Brides are no longer sticking to the colour white, let alone dresses. We’ve seen some stunning brides don a fierce looking pantsuit as they walk down the aisle. Grooms no longer stick to plain black suits and instead opt for more colourful combinations or even pattered floral suit jackets. Plus, these days why would you have only bridesmaids and groomsmen when you can have all your close friends as your wedding party no matter the gender.

Videography

While wedding photography will always be part of any ceremony, we’ve seen many couples opting for a combination package that includes videography. There’s so much more choice these days when it comes to how you want to commemorate your wedding memories.

Couples are more keen on getting authentic, candid shots that capture the wonderful, joyous atmosphere of the day and wedding videography is one of the best ways to do that. Plus, with the rise of drones you’ll get some stunning visuals of your guests and venue from above.

Grazing tables

Grazing platters are becoming a fast-growing trend for weddings as it’s a great alternative to canapes or pre-dinner buffets. You can have a whole spread of artisanal cheese, dips, fruits, cured meats, fresh bread and premium chocolate. It’s also easy enough to cater to a wide range of dietary requirements mixing up the choices on offer for your guests. Convenient and aesthetically pleasing, it’s no wonder couples opt for this.
