When the time came for outdoor and adventure enthusiasts Renee and Simon to tie the knot, a venue set amidst the rugged grandeur of the Blue Mountains was the natural choice.
Since originally meeting online a couple of years ago, the pair have regularly escaped the hustle and bustle of Sydney with camping trips to the picturesque Blackheath region, high in the Blue Mountains.
The home of several quaint cafes, antique and art galleries, Blackheath is a paradise for outdoorsy types, with abseiling, rock climbing, rafting, and a great variety of bush walks suitable for all skill levels. As well as the native flora and fauna, these walks provide a chance to enjoy a number of sights of interest, including:
- Picturesque streams and waterfalls, such as Victoria Falls and Govetts Leap Falls (also known as Bridal Veil Falls);
- Walls Cave, an aboriginal occupation site for thousands of years;
- Pulpit Rock and other lookouts;
- and sandstone formations like Anvil Rock, and the eroded rock surfaces of Wind Cave.
With the Blackheath region already holding a very special place in their hearts, Renee and Simon knew that it would be the perfect location for their upcoming nuptials.
And while camping might be okay for weekend getaways, they were keen to find a venue that was rustic yet luxurious for their special day.
Situated just 5km from the centre of Blackheath, Allview Escape provided the mountain setting for their dream wedding. In addition to luxurious cottage style accommodation, the New England style lawns and gardens are perfect for hosting outdoor events — picnics, marathons, and of course weddings — with the added impact of glorious views across the escarpment.
The glow of the afternoon sun upon sandstone cliffs couldn’t compare to the beautiful bride, wearing a romantic lace gown with chandelier drop earrings, as she walked along a petal-strewn path towards her groom.
After the ceremony, our Sydney wedding photography team was able to take full advantage of the location, capturing dramatic images amid the wind-eroded sandstone and towering gum trees.
At Allview Escape, Mother Nature takes care of the wedding décor no matter what the time of year. Simon and Renee were surrounded by budding greenery and delicate blossoms at their springtime wedding; we can only imagine the vivid colours of the same setting in Autumn!
Even after the sun sets, guests at Allview are treated to views that take in the glittering lights of Sydney.
Although we are a Sydney based wedding photography team, we are happy to travel to your preferred wedding destination — whether it’s in the Blue Mountains or further afield. We’ve even done weddings in places like Coffs Harbour and Brisbane, for those willing to pay an extra fee for travel expenses, to have our talented photographers shooting their special day.
We’re sure that their wedding day is only the start of a lifetime of wonderful adventures for outdoor lovers Simon and Renee — and a future that is as rock solid as the mountains they were married on!
